Kona coffee is grown in western coastline of Hawaii. This narrow strip of land on the southwestern side of Mauna Loa & Hulalai is where the world’s largest volcano. It is 25 miles long and only 2 miles wide. Grown only in this small area, Kona coffee is truly rare and unique.
Coffee grown in other parts of Hawaii cannot be called Kona coffee.

Apart from being harvested and roasted manually, the fact that it takes 4,000 beans to make 1 pound of coffee also accounts for Lion Kona Volcano coffee’s rarity and value. This means that a coffee tree can produce only a single pound of coffee in a year. In order to be considered one of the world’s finest coffees, a coffee must obtain the six conditions of soil quality, altitude, sunshine, cloud cover, rainfall, and slope. Hawaii’s Kona Coffee possesses all of these natural conditions in abundance!
